SEO for Artists & Galleries
If you are an artists you want your Art to show In Google text search, in Google Images, and you want to be listed in Wikipedia.
If you are a Gallery, you want your Art Gallery and your location rank on the first page of Google and the artists you represent.
As your art is your portfolio it is mega important that you use social media to display your images. As a minimum of having your own art website you should use either Instagram or Pinterest and YouTube to display your artwork. I recommend not to do set up more than two media accounts when you are starting out as this is all very time consuming ad it is better to focus just on one or two than trying to do a whole lot at the same time as ideally you should update your social media on a regular basis.
So how do you rank as an artist or Gallery? Below I list a simple guide how to do SEO after you have set up your art website in wordpress and how to rank your site.

Get a Domain Name
If you are an artist or gallery you should get a domain name with the exact match of your own name or gallery name. Buy a top level domain, e.g. .com or co.uk etc., depending on in which country you live in.
Type your name into a domain seller’s searchbox, e.g. Namesilo, see below and click on the search button.
The available domains will be displayed, see below
If your required domain extension does not display in the main Domain Search Results, click on the “Many more” button below the displayed results. For galleries it might be interesting to buy a “.gallery” domain name on top of the .com or other country domain.

How to optimize your images

2. Change or add additional information to your image by doing the following:
3. Right click on your image and choose “Properties”, then choose details, see below image and add your keywords to Title, Subject, Tags & Comments and Rate your image with five stars. Then save.
4. When you upload your image to WordPress make sure you fill in the image information such as Title, Alt Text ad Description, see below image, so the search engines will find the information.
Optimize Your Pages /Posts
To optimize your posts and pages properly install either the “All in one SEO” or the “Yoast” plugin. I use “All in one SEO” but you can try both and see which one you like best.
